DAY 1

Xi'an Arrival

DAY 2

Meet the Terracotta Army and Taste the Muslim Quarter

Get ready for an unforgettable day as you drive for 1½ hours from Xi’an to see the world-famous terracotta warriors. You have seen them in pictures and videos, but nothing compares to seeing them in person. With the help of your guide, you will uncover the secrets behind this ancient army. How did they make thousands of life-sized clay soldiers, each with a different face and posture? How do they preserve them from decay and damage? What colors did they use to paint them and why did they fade away?

After marveling at this wonder of the world, you will head back to the city center where you will visit the Great Mosque, one of the oldest and largest mosques in China. You will admire its unique architecture that blends Islamic and Chinese styles, and learn about the history and culture of the Muslim community in Xi’an.

Next, you will have a chance to explore the Muslim Quarter, a lively area full of shops, stalls, and restaurants. You will be tempted by the aromas and flavors of various dishes and snacks, from traditional ones like lamb skewers, beef noodles, and pita bread soup, to viral ones like ice cream rolls, cheese tea, and spicy hotpot. You can challenge yourself to try something new and exotic, or stick to what you like. Either way, you will have a delicious and fun time.

DAY 3 

Visit Mt Hua, One of the Five Great Mountains in China

You will drive for about 2½ hours from the city to reach Mt Hua, one of the Five Great Mountains in China, with a history of over 2,000 years. Mt Hua is famous for its steep and rugged terrain, and its numerous temples and shrines that dot its slopes and peaks.

You will explore the five summits of Mt Hua, each with its own charm and scenery. The South Peak is the highest one, at 2,160.5 meters above sea level, and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The East Peak is the best spot to watch the sunrise, and witness the changing colors of the sky and the clouds. The West Peak, also known as the Lotus Flower Peak, resembles a blooming lotus from a distance, and has a tranquil and serene atmosphere. The North Peak is the lowest and the most accessible one, and has a magnificent gate that welcomes visitors. The Middle Peak is the smallest and the most secluded one, and has a legend of a fairy who lived there.

You will enjoy a round-trip cable car ride that will take you up and down the mountain, and let you admire the scenery along the way. You will also have a chance to walk on the cliffside narrow plank at the South Peak, if you are brave enough. This is a thrilling and adventurous challenge that will test your courage and balance.

DAY 4

Discover the Buddhist Legacy and the Hanfu Culture in Xi’an

Begin your day with a visit to the Wild Big Goose Pagoda, a 7th-century Buddhist temple that houses the sacred scriptures and relics that Xuanzang (Tripitaka) brought back from his legendary journey to India. You will admire the elegant architecture and the serene

atmosphere of this ancient site, and learn about the life and achievements of Xuanzang, one of the most influential figures in Chinese Buddhism.

Next, you will head to the Shaanxi History Museum, one of the top 10 museums in China. You will be impressed by the rich and diverse collections that span from the prehistoric times to the Qing Dynasty, and from the massive bronze vessels to the delicate gold ornaments. You will pay special attention to the Tang Dynasty section, where you will see the splendid artifacts and artworks that reflect the cultural and economic flourishing of this golden age of China.
